Grange develops first trailed 6m Low Disturbance Loosener

Grange Machinery has extended its range of Low Disturbance Looseners (LDL) with a first trailed derivative.

As with many of its other implements, the Yorkshire-based firm leant on the real-world experience of a customer in the development of the 6m LDL – on this occasion, Richard Beaty, who runs J Beaty Farming in Market Harborough.

Longer chassis

Bar the additions of a drawbar and an extended chassis with its own transport wheels, the design is largely identical to that of the mounted version.

This means the soil working components remain led by a gang of 12 cutting discs, each of 450mm diameter and spaced 50cm apart, to carve through trash.

The narrow legs, positioned in line with their associated disc, then lift and shatter compacted soil with minimal surface disturbance.

To maximise working life, their lower sections are hard-faced, points treated with tungsten, and each unit protected by an auto-reset system.

Depth is set using quick-release clips on the front drawbar and rear axle rams.

As an option, buyers can add to the consolidation offered by the rear packer roller by speccing a hydraulically adjustable paddle board to level ground before it is pressed.

List price for a Trailed 6m LDL is £77,995, and wider models could be in the offing now that the core chassis has been developed.
