Grange develops slimmed-down 2.5m Grassland Loosener Lite

Grange Machinery has unveiled a scaled-down version of its Grass Land Loosener for farmers without the firepower to pull the original 3m model.

The 2.5m-wide GLL Lite iteration can be ordered with three or four front-mounted discs – spaced at 83cm and 63cm respectively – that carve a slot ahead of their corresponding low disturbance legs.

As well as loosening grass pastures on stock farms, the firm expects interest from arable growers, particularly those running a direct drill.

However it is employed, the implement fulfils the same role: alleviating soil compaction and shattering plough pans to a maximum depth of 300mm to improve drainage, air flow and root development of the following crop.

The cutting discs should reduce the risk of soil boiling ahead of the leg and the subsequent trash flow problems that might otherwise occur, and a toothed packer roller with hole-and-pin height adjustment tidies up behind.

Prices start at £13,950 for the basic version with shear-bolt protection; hydraulic reset is available as an option.
