Armed with levelling boards, heavy-duty tines and a pneumatic seeder, Guttler’s GreenMaster 600 Compact promises to make light work of revamping grassland.

And thanks to the recent addition of hydraulic adjustment, operators are able to tweak tine angle from the tractor seat, as well as raising or lowering the packer roller.

According to importer Wox Agri Services, this upgrade makes it considerably quicker to set the implement up for different seeding operations.

Plus, it allows settings to be altered on the fly as conditions change throughout a field.

Working width is a useful 6.2m and it folds hydraulically to 3m wide and 3.3m tall when travelling on the road.

The main difference between the compact model and the regular 6m machine is that it has a medium-sized Mediana prism roller permanently attached to the harrow, rather than a separate trailed unit.

This makes it far more manoeuvrable and considerably easier to move between fields.

Cultivating elements remain the same, meaning a tough levelling board arrangement leads the charge.

This flattens molehills, knocks poached ground into shape and teases out dead grass, as well as generating some useful tilth.

Dual springs on each section ensure it has plenty of bite and it can be fitted with short or long tines to suit the conditions.

Working height can be altered using a pin-and-hole arrangement and it can be made to work more or less aggressively by adjusting the tractor’s top link.

Behind this are two rows of heavy-duty 12mm spring tines with hydraulic rams to alter the working angle. Should any tines break during work, a cable retention system holds them securely in place.

Seed delivery

Buyers get a choice of pneumatic seeders fitted with either 200-, 410- or 660-litre hoppers.

The mid-sizer is the best seller, partly because it’s the smallest model eligible for the Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF) grants.

Each can be teamed with electric, pto-driven or hydraulic fans and gets the option of land-wheel metering or a seven-pin connection.

They can be controlled by an in-cab screen, or run through the tractor’s terminal via isobus.

As for seed placement, Guttler has opted to fit spreader plates between the ripper board and the twin row of tines.

At this point there’s a decent amount of tilth and enough soil movement afterwards to cover it effectively.

The metering unit comes with eight outlets, but the German maker doubles the number of spreader plates to 16 by fitting splitters in each of the delivery tubes.

Finally, the 33/38cm packer consolidates the surface and helps push the seeds down to the correct depth.

Although the GreenMaster is primarily used for grassland rejuvenation and reseeds, Wox says it can be used for knocking down furrows or working ground behind non-inversion primary cultivators.

It can also be tasked with establishing cover crops and cereals. Those with smaller areas to drill can make use of the machine’s integrated hopper, while bigger outfits can team it with a front tank.

The pictured model, sporting a 410-litre seeder with a hydraulic fan, comes in at about £52,000.

Included in the price is a full LED road lighting kit and a platform with integrated ladder.

Plenty of other sizes are available, from the compact-tractor friendly Mini GreenMaster to the 8m trailed GreenMaster 800.

Extra front harrow

For operators who want to generate some extra tilth without making a separate pass, a front-mounted HarrowFlex can be added.

This has the same ripper board and tine arrangement as its rear-mounted sibling, effectively doubling the amount of soil movement and scarification.

Manual tine angle adjustment comes as standard, but it can be upgraded to hydraulic.
