Pottinger adds harrow option to Plano shallow cultivator

A heavy-duty harrow is one of several new optional extras available on Pottinger’s high-speed Plano shallow tine cultivator.

The three-row toolbar is designed to bolt in place of the rear roller to improve plant residue distribution and leave a looser soil surface when conditions allow.

This configuration is particularly effective on clover-based cover crop mixes and, with harrow height hydraulically adjustable, any blockages can be cleared simply by raising it out of work.

Handily, the two units are also easily swapped, thanks to a quick-change system on each.

When the harrow is fitted, working depth of the implement is managed via the main transport wheels, through a range of 30-150mm.

Other new options include wheel track eradicators and spiral tines as an alternative to the standard rigid versions.

Their sweeping geometry suits higher volumes of organic matter and the oscillating effect is said to produce a fine tilth when prepping seed-beds in light to medium soils.

Beyond these additions, Pottinger’s sole Plano model – the 6m Plano VT 6060 – continues unchanged.

It carries 37 tines spaced 162mm apart and spread over six gangs.

They can be shod with wider 220mm Durastar Plus duck foot shares to slice through cover crop roots, or narrower 50mm chisel points for mid-depth tillage.

Options include a leading knife roller to chop through trash, a seeding unit, and various rear rollers and presses.
