Pottinger Synkro cultivator gets removable roller option
© Pottinger Front depth wheels are a new option for Pottinger’s rigid-frame, linkage-mounted Synkro cultivators, giving buyers the option of taking off the rear roller.
This was already possible on wider, folding versions, allowing owners to do away with the soil consolidation element without affecting working depth consistency on rough or uneven ground.

For primary tillage, it will leave a looser structure with more organic matter on the surface to reduce the risk of soil erosion, and it should be more forgiving in challenging weather.
The Synkro can also be used for seed-bed preparation and cover crop destruction, both of which might benefit from a rear roller.
Pottinger offers umpteen options, including single and twin crumblers, a cutting ring packer and rubber press, which can be moved nearer to or further away from the row of serrated levelling discs.

These follow the tines – two gangs on 2.5m and 3m models, and three on folding variants that run to 5m.
The arched legs can be angled to suit prevailing conditions, with the wings positioned on a near-level plane for shallow stubble cultivation – from a depth of 5cm – or pitched more steeply for deep tillage and mixing of crop residue down to 30cm.
Buyers can opt for Classic, harder-wearing Durastar or carbide-edged Durastar Plus metal, with impact protection provided by shear-bolts and, when specced, the firm’s maintenance-free Nova horizontal springs.
Frame height is 80cm across the board, beams are spaced 75cm apart, and power requirement ranges from 70hp for a six-leg, 2.5m version to 180hp for the 5m, 18-legger.
