Pottinger unveils debut Tinecare V 12050 flexible tine harrow

Pottinger is building its mechanical weed control product range with the company’s first flexible tine harrow.

The Tinecare V 12050 Master kicks off the introduction with a number of novel features, including quick-change tine mounting, coil spring tine pre-tension, and on-the-go tine angle and pressure adjustment.

This 12.2m-wide implement is formed with “floating” frames to follow surface contours, each carrying six rows of harrow elements spaced 360mm apart for an effective tine spacing of 30mm.

Each of the relatively short L-shaped tines is inserted into a carrier, an arrangement that limits lateral movement for consistent spacing and in-line tracking across the implement.

Quick swap

Loosening a securing screw enables each tine to be pulled out and swapped for a new one when the 125mm-long working section is worn away.

Each carrier also supports one end of a compression coil spring, with central adjustment providing individual tine pressures from 0.5-6kg to suit different soil types, conditions and the weed burden.

Applying pressure in this way, says Pottinger, ensures consistent tine loading, even when working along crop ridges or when the soil-engaging angle of the tines is changed to vary under-frame clearance or how aggressively they work.

There are rigid wing-mounted and pivoting rear-mounted jockey wheels to provide a stable platform in work, and for transport, the box-section toolbar that completes the implement folds in five sections for transport.

Pricing and availability will be released later this year.
