Amazone Teres 300 five/six-furrow plough gets on-land capability

Amazone engineers have reworked the front end of the Teres 300 heavy-duty mounted plough to make it capable of on-land as well as in-furrow operation.

The added versatility means the five/six-furrow reversible can be used on high-power tracked and wheeled power units running oversize tyres, as well as smaller, nimbler tractors with tyres that fit comfortably in the furrow.

As the model designation suggests, the Teres 300 is built to work with tractors of up to 300hp; its main beam measures 150mm square in cross-section and is constructed from 8.8mm thick steel.

The headstock incorporates a bearing-mounted cross-shaft with integrated balls for easy location on the tractor’s lower linkage arms.

While base spec includes manual furrow width adjustment, “V” versions have hydraulic settings and a greater range of widths at 30-50cm (12-20in) or 33-55cm (13-22in).

Hydraulic furrow-width adjustment is standard with the Onland version and Amazone says there is sufficient clearance for the plough to be turned over without having to pull it in first, even at wide settings.

Instead, only the beam swivel cylinder is operated as part of the turnover sequence so there is less pivot wear along the length of the implement compared with a plough that must be pulled in and pushed out again for each turnover.

For on-land operation, the plough is simply re-configured hydraulically from the cab via the parallelogram links and cylinder, with the manufacturer’s AutoAdapt adjustment mechanism for the front furrow width ensuring clean matching from bout to bout.

The Teres 300 Onland also features Amazone’s SpeedBlade plough body where the main wear point is focused on a patented extra-large front shin, even at fast working speeds.

With the enlarged shin taking the brunt of the soil’s abrasive impact, the mouldboard – whether whole or slatted – should have a longer service life resulting in lower metal replacement costs.

Buyers have a choice of mechanical or hydraulic break-back protection.
