Giraf Track offers flexible handling

Based on a Caterpillar excavator undercarriage, this uniquely named Giraf Track is the first to be sold in the UK and is owned by Devon company CropMech.
Made in Belgium by TDL and supplied by Ranger Equipment, the 101hp remote control machine has a 16m Merlo boom and can be fitted with standard Merlo attachments as well as specialist Giraf Track lifting equipment.
Fitted with a basket, the maximum working height is 17.8m and, with a jib, it can stretch an impressive 20m with a maximum lift capacity of 3.8t. It weighs a hefty 16.5t but the low centre of gravity means there’s no need for outriggers.
Fitted with forks, it’s a 360° crawler-mounted telehandler, but with a winch it becomes a small crane, says CropMech, which has fitted the machine with a cab and levelling blade for use on steep land, and uses it for a number of tasks, including building high capacity grain stores.
