Baling contractors and operators keen to learn more about the efficiency of their operations can gather a whole load of potentially useful data by using the latest version of Pottinger’s Harvest Assist app.

Progressively developed to gather more information and provide additional functions, the app aims to simplify communications within contractor and farm teams by providing live mapping and a snapshot of how individual operations are progressing.

When baling and wrapping with an Impress 3000 Pro fixed or variable bale-size machine, version 4.0 now goes beyond showing the location of each bale in a field; it also records the weight and moisture content when these are measured.

The four-cell weighing system built into the wrapping turntable is available for model year 2023-24 machines onwards, with a claimed +/- 3% accuracy maintained on hilly ground thanks to a slope sensor.

For all baling operations, the latest app also records efficiency data such as the time taken to form each bale and output per hectare, and the amount of time spent working and in transit between yard and field or field-to-field.

The latter function is also available for other implements such as mowers, rakes, forage wagons and so on fitted with the Connect data-gathering and transmitting telemetry unit, which is now available in versions for isobus-equipped and non-isobus implements, whether or not built by Pottinger.

The latest app also displays the location, position and status of every swath in a field on a continuously updated map, with high-density sections of swath highlighted to alert operators to potential machine blockages.

And it continues to provide routing guidance via Google Maps for operators unfamiliar with the location of fields and silage clamps.
