ScotGrass: First look at McHale V6 750-II vari-chamber baler

This V6 750-II was the first example of McHale’s updated variable-chamber round baler line-up to make a bale on UK soil.

Notable changes include isobus control fitted as standard and compatibility with tractor implement management (TIM) systems.

This allows the baler to take control of certain tractor functions, such as forward speed, to improve efficiency of the operation.

Load-cell indicators are now fitted on each door lock to precisely measure the force on either side and give operators an accurate picture of bale shape.

Density control has been updated too, with a system that electronically varies pressure throughout the baling process.

By upping the force in the chamber at the right times, more material can be squeezed in to give a higher density bale.

At the front, there’s a high-flow pick-up with a heavier-duty driveline. This can be fitted with a five-tine-bar cam-track assembly, or an optional six-tine-bar, camless version.

A tapered feed channel improves the flow of crop from the pick-up to the rotor, with assistance from redesigned lateral feed augers.

There’s also a function that allows the intake area to automatically adjust up and down in response to changes in material volume.

Other features of note include quick-attach pick-up wheels, a larger oil tank and a high-current additive control system.
