RT Sales’ stabilising frame reduces mower strain on tractors
© RT Sales Mowing tractors could be in for an easier life, thanks to a nifty stabilising frame developed by RT Sales that promises to reduce the strain on cross-shafts and linkages.
The County Kerry firm has adapted the novel mounting system of its Pro Arm JA2122-T telescopic hedgecutters to form the Hitch Hero, which can be paired with a rear mower-conditioner from any brand.

Its principal aim is to eliminate extreme side loads and shocks as it clatters over bumps and ruts – an issue exacerbated by the implement’s offset position.
To achieve this, the company has incorporated several extra bracing points that increase rigidity.
The tractor and implement are still connected conventionally via three-point linkage, but with an additional intermediate A-frame between the two.
This assembly mounts on the mower’s outer lower link brackets and a second top link on the back of the tractor.
It carries a pair of turnbuckles that are tethered tightly to an insert in the host machine’s pick-up hitch receiver. In doing so, it effectively forms an inverted three-point linkage.
Improved rigidity
The two intersecting triangular linkages help to stabilise the mower and transfer swinging forces to the strongest structural points of the tractor.
According to RT Sales, this eliminates the lateral movement that wreaks havoc with the cross-shafts, drop links and lift arms. Plus, it should make it smoother to operate – with no impact on mower height control.
The galvanised A-frame is universal but its cranked receiver plates are shaped to suit different models, so this needs to be specified at the time of ordering.
It retails for €19,050 (£16,710) in Ireland. UK prices are yet to be confirmed.
