Kuhn’s new centrally-articulated disc mowers

Farmers or contractors looking for high outputs at silage making time should be interested in Kuhn’s new centrally-articulated GMD 3110 and 3510 disc mowers.
They offer 3.1m and 3.5m working widths respectively and are the latest models to include the firm’s patented Lift Control facility – and among the first to feature its new-generation Optidisc cutter bar, which is designed to improve quality of cutting, increase durability and reduce maintenance.
Central articulation gives these machines improved ground following and a more even load distribution, says the company, which means an accurate cut even at high speeds.
Like other models in this range, which includes 4m and 4.4m formats, these machines have Lift Control, which involves an integrated hydraulic linkage that enables the cutter bar to be lifted out of work on headlands (to a clearance of 40 cm) without raising the three-point linkage. Ground clearance is also consistent over the whole width of the machine.
The hydraulic lift linkage uses a hydro-pneumatic shock absorber to reduce the shock loads on the tractor during transport or when turning at the headlands. That should reduce mechanical wear and improve operator comfort, says the company.
Non-stop break-back control is also included on GMD3110 and 3510 models, minimising the risk (and inconvenience) of damage from hitting an obstacle. Fitted with Kuhn’s new Fast-Fit blades system as standard, these new models have basic prices of £10,113 (GMD 3110) and £10,597 (GMD 3510).
