Knight launch high-capacity sprayer with GPS
Knight unveiled a new high-capacity trailed sprayer at this week’s Cereals event, held near Royston, Cambridgeshire.
The firm reports that growers are increasingly looking for high specification trailed sprayers as an alternative to self-propelled machines.
The new unit is available with either a 4500 or 5000-litre stainless steel tank, with boom sizes ranging from 24m to 36m wide.
For increased stability and better tracking performance on the headlands, the sprayer is equipped with an air-sprung axle and electronic steering controls.
A fully integrated control system groups all sprayer functions on a simple joystick that combines application control, boom-section switching, all hydraulic functions and automatic boom height and levelling.
Like a number of other manufacturers, Knight now offers its sprayers with GPS-controlled automatic boom-section switching.
This set-up can work in conjunction with the tractor’s own GPS package or the firm can supply a satellite receiver for the sprayer itself. Price for a 36m machine with a 4500-litre tank will be about £45,000.
