This September crop of lucerne near Dorchester is being rowed-up by a new belt merger machine from Kuhn, operating in the UK for the first time.

The Merge Maxx has a 9.1m pickup and five different windrow delivery options and provides an alternative to rotary rakes. As well as achieving high workrates, the conveyor belt delivery system is said to give less aggressive handling of the crop than typically occurs with rotary rakes. This is particuarly beneficial with crops such as lucerne and red clover.
