Renewable insurance launched
Rural insurance company NFU Mutual has launched an insurance package for farmers installing commercial renewable energy schemes.
The policy covers farmers, or groups of farmers operating wind turbines, solar photovoltaics (roof-mounted or free-standing), biomass plants or anaerobic digester installations up to 1.5MW of electricity capacity.
It covers various risks associated with renewables, particularly supplying electricity to the grid, and includes cover for damage to plant, together with liability cover to protect farmers from claims from third parties.
