Shanks launches low-slung, twin-chamber slurry tanker

A new slurry tanker has been unveiled by Irish manufacturer Shanks, which it claims is safer than other models on the market.

The design incorporates two internal chambers, allowing the body to sit lower and thus reducing the centre of gravity.

As well as making towing safer, this has benefits when emptying as, unlike single chamber tankers that shift all the weight to the rear as the load reduces, the twin chamber design keeps weight on the drawbar to aid tractor grip, Shanks says.

Its low-slung stature – it sits about 400mm lower than a conventional machine – also offers better visibility for the driver.

There are three models available – 2,050, 2,450 and 2,750gal – with the mid sized model retailing for £16,500.
