Stihl SGA 60 knapsack sprayer gets battery-powered pump

Stihl has ditched the hand pump on its latest knapsack sprayer, opting for the convenience of battery power instead.

This setup gives the SGA 60 a working pressure of up to 4.5 bar, which is maintained regardless of the amount of charge remaining.

Power is provided by one the firm’s 36V AK packs, with the recommended 72Wh AK 10 unit giving up to 270min of operating time.

Variable adjustment of pressure allows operators to accurately alter the dose and the telescopic lance comes with five nozzles to suit different applications.

As for carrying capacity, the moulded plastic tank can hold 15 litres of liquid and features a large filler opening complete with a strainer to reduce the risk of contamination.

Another filter inside the vessel prevents any undissolved particles making their way into the pump.

To help spread the load – about 21kg with a battery and full tank – the sprayer is fitted with padded shoulder straps, a hip harness and back support.

It’s also IPX4 certified, meaning it’s protected against being splashed with water from all directions.

Retail price of the bare tool is £216, with an AK 10 battery pack coming in at £73 and suitable chargers starting at around £38.
