Lamma 2024: Bigger bite for Albutt S251HX shear grab
A bigger, cleaner bite of silage is promised with Albutt’s latest range of S-HX shear grabs.
The jaw of the top model, the S251HX, now opens to 850mm, allowing it to accommodate a marginally larger mouthful of forage.

And, at 2.5m wide, it should match the track width of the telehandler or tractor on which it is mounted, allowing operators to work snuggly against the pit wall without leaving a crescent-shaped clamp face.
It also gets stronger 50mm-diameter pivot pins, tidier hydraulic pipes, and spill protection at the rear to reduce wastage as the material is transported.
Buyers can opt for KV mild steel tines or Hardox equivalents that are reckoned to last up to three times longer.
These are welded into the grab, saving the need to tighten them periodically.
The four-model range runs from 1.6m to 2.5m wide and offers capacities between 0.85 and 1.3cu m.
The 860kg S251HX has a list price of £6,267.
