A sizzling anniversary…

TWENTY-five years ago Susan Garford held the first Cambridge-Peterborough FWC meeting at her home and this summer the club celebrated their anniversary in style with a barbecue at Christine and Stuart Bishs home. They were so lucky with the weather as, after days of rain, the evening was fine with around 40 people enjoying sangria and beer in the garden.

The cooking skills of Stuart and his able helpers were greatly appreciated and Rosemary Heading introduced us to the description of sausages being done to a snirkin, an expression from her native Kent she says. It is similar to the Australian method of cooking them to the blackness of being able to write your name with them!

The evening was orchestrated by Christine who spoke of special friends and events before Stuart proposed a toast to FWC. A cake baked and decorated by Stella Parker was cut by all contact leaders past and present – it was delicious! Jean Howells
