Raising the roof… has proved an effective way to stop older cattle suffering pneumonia at Kevin Webbs Holly Tree Farm, Walton, Leics. A roofing sheet above each pen is lifted on a wooden frame in the general purpose building. This, and other measures to improve ventilation in buildings for calves, have reduced mortality and improved finishing rates. Full story next week.
