IN BRIEF

&#8226 FARM Energy Centre, previously a specialist advisory arm of the nationalised electricity industry, has been bought out by its own management team.

The FEC provides guidance on the efficient use of energy to the agricultural and horticultural industries. But since deregulation of the electricity industry it can only offer free advice to enquirers whose supplier of energy subscribes to their service.

&#8226 WALLACES of Hemyock, Devon has just become the 50th accredited butcher to be signed up for the Rare Breed Survival Trusts traditional breeds meat marketing scheme.

The scheme was started five years ago and offers consumers top quality meat that has been reared extensively in high welfare conditions. All products are completely traceable from point of birth to the butchers display.
