Rent holiday for the Dukes lucky tenants

Cheering news from one Lancs estate this week. The Duke of Westminster has given all his tenants a rent holiday of six months.

Critics may point out that His Grace is not exactly short of a penny or two. Being one of the richest men in Britain, he will hardly notice the difference. But his tenants certainly will.

Moreover, there are many big, institutional landlords to whom agricultural rents are loose change. But to their tenants, these are vital funds that could keep their businesses afloat this winter.

Its time those landlords followed the Dukes lead.
