A fledgling dairy goat business was given a boost at the Fair when the young farmer behind the idea picked up a cheque for £1500 from Welsh farm minister Carwyn Jones (centre left). Gary Yeomans (centre right), who plans to start milking around 100 goats on a small farm near Abergavenny next spring, beat off strong opposition to win the Wales YFC Rural Enterprise Scheme, which is sponsored by the Welsh Development Agency, the EU and NatWest Bank. Runners-up were Elgan Davies who is starting a ground management business and wildlife artist Miranda Brown.
