Ashford’s young farmers hold ploughing marathon

 Ashford Young Farmers Club held a 48-hour ploughing marathon recently.

More than 20 members of the Kent Club were involved in the event, held at the Cyster family’s Alderden Manor and Challenden Farm.

They covered more than 360 acres during the two days, with three tractors working round the clock, and hope to raise more than £1200 as a result for ME Research UK.

“There was a lot of coffee and Red Bull drunk to keep us going,” says 23-year-old club vice chairman Rob Joules (pictured below with programme secretary Rebecca Quinn).

“It all came together in the end and everyone as really upbeat to have got through it.”

The members rounded off the event with a party on the Saturday night.
