Cheese linked with E.coli is banned

By FWi staff

ALL cheeses made by Duckett & Co of Wedmore, Somerset, have been temporally banned after a 12-year-old boy was hospitalised with the E coli bug.

Tessa Jowell, public health minister, signed an emergency control order to prevent all cheeses made by Duckett & Co from being sold or distributed.

There is now a nationwide health warning about Duckett & Co cheeses after the boy, from Somerset, was treated in hospital for an illness caused by the E coli 0157 bacterium.

Doctors believe he caught the illness from eating Caerphilly-type cheese made by the company.
