Police investigating vicious dog attacks on sheep
Police in Dumfries & Galloway are investigating a vicious dog attack which left a number of lambs dead and others requiring urgent veterinary help.
The attack is believed to have taken place on the morning of Thursday 21 September on a farm near Dunscore. Twelve lambs died and another six needed major vet assistance.
This latest attack follows a similar incident on a neighbouring farm three weeks earlier, in which three sheep were killed, by what is thought to be a similar dog, which displayed a surprisingly savage way of killing.
Dumfries and Galloway police confirmed they received a call about twelve sheep that had been worried by a dog at 9.43am on 21 September and are currently investigating the incident.
Anyone with any information should call Dumfries Police Office on 01387 252112.
The photograph below shows a single lamb, still alive with its ear ripped off and breathing through the wound on the side of its face (this lamb was put down by the attending vet).
This group photograph shows the fate of another 11 lambs that were recovered from the fields. Many had their ears torn off, faces ripped, teeth and tear marks on their thighs & joints and some with their intestines pulled out.
