THE UK market initially traded £1 higher yesterday in a follow-through from Fridays rise, but soon drifted to finish between 40p and 70p up on the day.

Short covering in the USA saw Chicago improve marginally as the Americans expect to obtain the lions share of the 300,000t Pakistan tender this week.
