CWS farming profits plummet
BRITAINS largest farming operation, the agricultural arm of the Co-operative Wholesale Society (CWS), saw profits fall by more than a third to £1 million.
The lacklustre performance was bolstered by better performances from other divisions of the group.
Associated Co-operative Creameries, the milk, distribution and manufacturing arm lifted profits by £4.5m to £16.8m.
Operating profits for the group as a whole rose by £21m to £113m. Group turnover remained flat at £3.17bn (£3.14bn).
