NEED to find an efficient way of disposing of all those used hypodermic needles and syringes that the farm stores up each year?

Balcan Engineering, based at Woodhall Spa, Lincs, has developed the Mini Destructor, into which a needle is inserted up to the butt of the syringe. Pushing down a handle shears the needle from the hub and the nib from the syringe to render both useless, says the company.

The pieces discharge into a screw-lidded debris pot for later disposal as sharps material. Balcan says the unit has an estimated life of 200,000 needles. (01526-353075)
