‘EU threat to rural postal services’
EU plans to limit the Post Offices monopoly on most letter deliveries would threaten uniform priced rural deliveries, the House of Lords was told on Wednesday (18 October).
Post Office chief executive John Roberts told a Lords committee that EU Commission plans would seriously hit profits, reports the Financial Times.
The Post Office wants the monopoly retained for letters weighing more than 150g, while the commission wants it scrapped for those above 50g.
