2 May 1997

Welcome to Sheep SouWest 97. It is the specialist event for producers in the south-west, designed to provide the latest technical information to help manage businesses more efficiently.

After buoyant prices for lambs during the past year the market seems set to enter less certain times during the year ahead. After a good lamb crop, born in fine spring weather and few losses, increased supply could depress prices.

Also the strong £ has forced exports down although increases in home consumption have gone some way towards offsetting that trend.

The mixed prospects for lamb prices makes it even more important to minimise costs while maximising output. To help south-west producers achieve that SouWest Sheep 97, organised by the National Sheep Association, has planned this specialist event, packed with the latest technical information.

Experts will be on hand to offer you detailed advice on specific management problems. Special features include sheep- dog trials with well known expert Tom Cox. There will also be a special display of ATV and novel approaches to sheep-shearing. Dont miss out on this prestigious event, make your way to the Duchy College on Wed, May 7.
