Falklands to go all-organic

THE Falkland Islands is close to guaranteeing that all its agricultural produce is farmed using organic sustainable methods.

It would be the first food exporter able to make this claim, reports The Independent.

The British Dependent Territorys remote South Atlantic location and its cool maritime climate make pesticides unnecessary.

Livestock range free throughout the year, feeding on natural or improved pasture.

Certified organic meat products will be exported by the end of the year, following the completion of the islands EU-approved abattoir.

Falklands produce and background material on farming on the islands will be on display at the Royal Highland Show, 22-25 June.
