BPEX advocates improved knowledge transfer

IMPROVED KNOWLEDGE transfer and increased use of commercial units for research work are two of the proposals contained in The British Pig Executive”s Strategy for Reearch, Development, Knowledge Transfer and Industry Uptake.

Knowledge transfer will include demonstrations on commercial farms, proposes the strategy document, which has gone out for industry consultation.

On the research front, BPEX expects research to be conducted in collaboration with other funders, particularly government and its agencies where mutual benefit can be demonstrated. This should give a total fund of 6m a year, with 2.3m a year coming from levy payers from their current levy amount.

“Research priorities will be determined on the best return for stakeholders. Initial research priorities will include respiratory disease, pig wasting diseases, precision feeding and human health interactions.”
