Farmers flood stress helplines

By FWi staff

ORGANISATIONS offering farmers advice and stress counselling have reported a massive increase in calls during Britains foot-and-mouth crisis.

Caroline Davies, Rural Stress Information Network director said the number of calls to her organisation has increased tenfold.

She said rural help organisations are working together to ensure more people are on hand to offer counselling and help, particularly in the hardest hit areas.

“Farming livelihoods are at stake, but there are an awful lot of people out there who really care and want to help,” she said.
