February bonus from Dairy Crest

By FWi staff

DAIRY CREST has announced a “special” bonus of 0.5ppl to direct suppliers for February.

The company says this “one-off” payment is being made while “active discussions” continue with major customers.

Dairy Crest says it believes there is a strong case for a further increase in the price of raw milk used to produce retail liquid milk.

Prices were raised 2ppl in October, and the company says it has been able to maintain them despite butter prices having weakened since then.

Dairy Crest said it fully understood the difficulties facing dairy farmers and is working in “an increasingly positive environment with farmer representatives”.

It says it has increased the extent and frequency of meetings in efforts to “build a profitable and successful future for the industry”.

The goodwill bonus will be paid separately from the normal monthly milk payment in a yet to be specified method.
