Finns urge EC to halt fur farm ban

THE Finnish government is urging the European Commission to intervene over the proposed ban on fur farming in the UK, claiming the ban breaks European law.

The fur farming industry, which is a big employer in Scandanavia, fears the UK move could lead to bans in other European Union countries.

European farmers groups have written to European farm commissioer Franz Fischler arguing that the ban is against single market rules.
