First non-toxic rat bait ready for battle
First non-toxic rat bait ready for battle
RODENT populations rose 31% between 1999 and 2000, but the worlds first non-toxic rodenticide, launched by Natrocell, could stem the tide.
EradiRat and EradiMouse are made from natural vegetable material and contain no added toxins, such as anticoagulants, says the firm. Products are cellulose-based and, because rodents cannot digest cellulose, pathogenic bacteria are produced in the gut, which are said to kill them in four to 10 days.
Bait will not contaminate food stuffs, cause secondary poisoning of non-target species or allow rodents to develop resistance, adds Natrocell.
Up to 200g of product is needed as bait for a rat and 100g for a mouse. EradiRat is available in 5kg tubs costing £25.99 each and 22.68kg sacks at £80 each. EradiMouse comes in 3kg tubs costing £21.49 each and sacks as above (020-88036333, fax 020-88038899).
