LINCOLNSHIRE arable farmer Nicholas Watts, who has "provided a shining example of how bio-diversity and the environment can flourish, even on a highly productive commercial farm", received the Silver Lapwing Award for his efforts this week.

A 2.4ha (6-acre) reservoir and grass strips up to 20m wide were among the new features of the 730ha (1800-acre) fenland farm that won him the prestigious prize, sponsored by Farmcare and organised by the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group. &#42
