Brussels has granted 162,000 mts free market soft wheat restitutions at zero tax. 1996/97 final export figures – wheat 4,567,062 mts, barley 2,086,352 mts.
Market still following currency but difficult to sell lower quality wheat – 68kgs offered at £83 FOB Sept. Port allowances are now -£1 / kg to 70 kgs and -£2 / kg thereafter. Compounders very reluctant to take below 70kgs at present.
Spot wheat is valued at £80 / £87 ex farm depending on the variety and quality. Spot milling wheat is valued at £106 / £110 ex farm, depending on location. Spot O.S.R is valued around £152 / £154 ex farm, depending on location.
