Haversham A-A event is big hit
TEN bids over 1000gns and a top of 1850gns marked a successful dispersal of Giles Randalls Haver-sham Aberdeen-Angus herd.
A lively crowd gathered at Banbury for the event, held in conjunction with a reduction from his daughter Alicias Adstock herd.
Among them were several Scots bidders, but it was Buckingham buyer Robert Tofield who gave the top price for the March 1992-bred Haversham Jaunty 2nd, sold suckling a calf by Eager S56 of Blelack.
The herd was based on Blelack lines and it was a full sister to Jenny 2nd that realised 1650gns to David Bulmer, Olney, Bucks. This powerful heifer looks destined for a show career.
Volume buyers were Messrs Self and Son, Chippenham, who were active in the served and maiden heifer sections paying up to 720gns for a daughter of Eager S56.
AVERAGES 23 cows and heifers with calves £910, 11 recently served heifers £777, 10 maiden heifers £548 and four young bulls £811. (Midland Marts.) *
