HF breeders to join task force
THREE Holstein Friesian breeders have been forwarded to sit on the independent unification task force, designed to create a single organisation from the two existing black-and-white breed societies.
But the British Holstein Society, which recently lobbied members on their views of the task force, will not make any announcement until after its board meeting on Nov 6.
Three HFS members
The three HFS members are Michael Armstrong, 44, from Great Salkeld, Penrith, Cumbria; Tom Kelly, 43, from Drogheda, County Louth and Ken Proctor, 39, from Thetford, Norfolk.
Edward Taylor, HFS chairman, said: "We are puttingforward some of our youngest board members to represent the society on the task force. They represent the generation that stands to gain most from successful unifi-cation."
Once the BHS has agreed to the task force, an independent chairman will then be appointed.
