TEXT: YAS ponders rejected development plan
The Yorkshire Agricultural Society is considering its position after town planners rejected the first phase of a £10m scheme to develop an agricultural centre at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate. The rejected plans included offices for 50 YAS staff and related organisations, plus a farm shop
and cafŽ.

pig research data
A pig project launched last Friday brings together research carried out on pig units at the universities of Leeds and Newcastle, as well as data from the Veterinary Laboratories Agency at Thirsk.
Funded by the British Pig Executive, the National Pig Development Centre will use BPEX specialists to develop ways of putting research into practice.

Internet training for farming families
Farming families in North Yorkshire and the Humber are being offered a 12-month internet course by Yorkshire Forward, demonstrating how to turn their hobbies and interests into online businesses. Delegates will be given access to IT equipment, including a computer, digital camera, printer and recording equipment.
Participants are required to pay a joining fee of £99, plus £10 for each session.
