Irrigation for 23 hours a day

A HOSE-REEL irrigator designed to distribute water over 6.5ha (16 acres) throughout a 23 hour period has been introduced by Hants-based Wright Rain Ever Crop Irrigation.

The IG4 125/650 irrigator comes with 650m of 125mm diameter hose, while a Rain Gun nozzle is capable of discharging water up to 60m, says the company.

The companys IG4 is fitted as standard with an Irrigamatic 300 computer which can be programmed to allow application rates from 10mm of water per wind-in from a maximum flow rate of 100cu m/hour at 12bar pressure. Galvanised in construction, the irrigator is mounted on a floating tandem axle which can be raised and lowered for transport and field work using the tractors hydraulics

In the lowered work position, the IG4 is claimed to have a low centre of gravity, allowing maximum stability on steep ground.

For automatic shutdown, the IG4 features a slow-closing valve, while an air-compressor serves to blow water out of the hose to make the irrigator lighter during transport.

List price of IG4 irrigator is £23,425. &#42
