Keep drill in trim for top beet crop
ENSURING a precision drill is in first-class condition and ready to work, is one of the first steps towards a successful sugar beet crop, says Phillip Ecclestone, project manager for British Sugars Agricultural Research and Development department.
Sound advice when it is known that bad drilling from misplaced seed could result in a loss of up to £2500 on a typical 850t contract, says Mr Ecclestone.
British Sugar, in conjunction with Stanhay Webb, Ferrag, Garford Farm Machinery and Armer Machinery, is running its annual National Drill Testing Scheme using 49 clinic centres. *
