Kinclune Prince top at Inverurie
A TWO-YEAR-OLD Charolais bull topped the first pedigree video-linked sale at Aberdeen and Northern Marts Thainstone Market in Inverurie.
Kinclune Prince, bred by Jock Wilson of Kinclune, Glenkindie, sold for 4000gns to Forbes Leslie of Newton of Auchindor, Rhynie. Described as well-muscled and powerful, he was sired by the well-known bull Killadeas Legend.
Another Legend son from Mr Wilson – Kinclune Piers – sold to 3100gns. In total, 19 Charolais bulls sold, levelling at £2227.
The same number of Limousin bulls also changed hands, averaging just under £2000 apiece. The top price was 3200gns for the two-year-old Westpit Porto, sired by Carse Impact. Porto, bred by Jim Gammie of Drumforber, Laurencekirk, went to Tom Johnston of Coulterfanny, Tyrie, Fraserburgh.
Simmental and Blonde DAquitaine bulls reached 1500gns and Aberdeen-Angus to 1400gns.
A total of 47 bulls changed hands from the 113 catalogued, while breeding cows and calves also sold well.
Successful bids were found for 150 heifers with calves, 48 cows and calves and 35 bulling heifers. A top price of just over £1400 went to a black Irish heifer with a Limousin cross calf at foot from Ronald Smiths farm at Wester Coull, Tarland. *
