Lamb for Tony and Jacques
Lamb for Tony and Jacques
THE County pub, in Aycliffe, County Durham was drawn into the escalating EU BSE crisis when French president Jacques Chirac joined Tony Blair for a meal in his constituency.
Mr Chirac enjoyed a meal of lamb with the Prime Minister last Thursday.
But, to the consternation of some British farmers, beef was not on the menu.
But chef Andrew Brown told FARMERS WEEKLY this had nothing to do with the political situation.
However, with France maintaining its unilateral ban on British beef, while facing calls for its own beef to banned here, this did not stop the media and politicians making a meal of the situation.
