Martin case jurors to be quizzed
By FWi staff
JURORS in the case of Tony Martin, the farmer jailed for life after murdering a teenage burglar, are set to be questioned over whether they were intimidated.
Three Court of Appeal judges ruled that the jurors could be questioned as Mr Martins solicitors began an appeal against his conviction.
Mr Martin was found guilty in April of murdering 16-year-old burglar Fred Barras during a bungled raid on his remote Norfolk farm last year.
During the trial, at Norwich Crown Court, there were claims that some of the jurors and witnesses in the case had been intimidated.
Mr Martins solicitors are expected to argue that an atmosphere of intimidation made it impossible for their defendant to have a fair trial.
