McDonald’s hit by BSE panic
By FWi staff
FAST food giant McDonalds has seen burger sales fall in Continental Europe amid renewed fears over BSE, reports the Daily Express.
November figures on the Continent were down 11% from the same period last year, although worldwide sales rose 4%.
Chief executive Jack Greenberg acknowledged that the BSE scare was more widespread than the similar panic in the UK in 1996.
Meanwhile, rival Burger King has reported increased demand for chicken in Europe.
