MoD police may fight rural crime
By FWi staff
MINISTRY of Defence police could be deployed in rural areas to overcome the shortage of police officers, reports The Daily Telegraph.
Almost 4000 officers are to be given the authority for the first time to act as police constables outside military bases, under new legislation.
MoD officers could be used to deal with traffic accidents or robberies when requested to do so by local police.
The Armed Forces Bill comes before the Commons on Tuesday (09 January).
