Monsanto shares rice data


BIOTECHNOLOGY giant Monsanto is to make available ground-breaking data on the genetic make-up of rice which could help feed the worlds population.

Share its data with the International Rice Genome Sequencing Project, Monsanto is boosting research into new varieties on high-yielding rice.

This is needed to feed a burgeoning world population.

The Financial Times says Monsantos declaration is aimed at repairing its image battered by the controversy over genetically modified crops
